Gerald Dempsey "Buster" Posey III was born on March 27, 1987. He grew up in Leesburg, Georgia where he played four sports in his local high school. In baseball, he was superb at hitting pitching. During his college years, he attended Florida State University where he was first introduced to the home plate as the catcher. During those years he won the Golden Spikes Award in the year 2008. He was Giant's 5th overall pick in the 2008 MLB draft.
Posey's début game was on September 11, 2009. He began playing in the Minor League during the 2010 season, but he was called up to the Major League in May. He started as the First Baseman and became Giant's starting catcher by the end of June. His rookie year, Buster finished the season with .305 batting average and 18 homeruns. He earned the NL Rookie of the Year. During that year Giants won the 2010 World Series with Buster playing in every inning of the playoffs. In 2011, Posey suffered from a horrific injury which caused him to miss most of the season. In 2012, Posey made a huge comeback, winning 2012 NL MVP. During the same year, Giants beat the Detroit Tigers in four games to claim the World Series title once again. He ended the 2012 season with .336 average. In 2013, Posey signed a 9-year contract with the San Francisco Giants worth of $167 million.
Posey is married to his high school girlfriend, Kristen. On August 14,2012, they had two twins, a boy and a girl, with the names of Lee Dempsey Posey and Addison Lynn Posey. During the season, Posey lives with his family in the East Bay and off season they all live together in their home in Georgia.
