Jose Alberto Pujols Alcantara was born on January 16, 1980. He plays as a first baseman for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the Major League Baseball. He is right-handed and previously played for St. Louis Cardinals. He is the first player to earn 500 or more doubles in hist first 12 seasons.
In in 1996, Pujols moved to the United States of America from Dominican Republic. He only attended college for one year and then proceeded to the MLB. He was picked 13th round of the 1999 MLB Draft. In 2001, as a rookie, he won the National League Rookie of the Year Award. He was then voted National League Most Valuable Player. He also won the batting title 2003, hitting at average of .359.
